A recently released opinion poll, conducted by YouGov on behalf of ITV-Cymru Wales and Cardiff University, has revealed that a majority (53%) of the those aged between 16 and 24 would support independence once 'don't know' options are excluded.

On the other hand, the poll of 1,142 respondents, conducted between 18 - 21 April, shows that 47% of 16 to 24 year olds would vote 'no' in a referendum on independence.

When asked the question, "Should Wales be an independence country?"; 38% of those aged between 16 and 24 responded 'yes'; 34% responded 'no'; 7% would not vote; 16% did not know; and 5% refused to answer.
