Two thirds of people worried about poverty in Cymru, new survey shows

A new survey carried out by Focaldata on behalf of Hope Not Hate has revealed that almost two thirds (65%) of people are worried about poverty in Cymru.


The poll reveals that almost a quarter (23%) of Welsh people were "very worried" about poverty in Cymru, with a further 42% "somewhat worried."


However, a total of 30% of Welsh people were not worried about the issue, with 21% of people "not very worried" and a further 9% "not at all worried".


5% of respondents said that they did not know.


Lack of opportunities for young people


The survey also reveals that 69% of respondents were worried about there being a lack of opportunities for young people growing up in Cymru today.


27% of Welsh people said that they were "very worried" about this issue, with a further 42% saying they were "somewhat worried."


A little of a quarter (26%) of respondents said that they were not worried about a lack of opportunities for young people in Cymru, with 18% "not very worried" and 8% "not at all worried." 5% of respondents said that they did not know.


The newly-released survey was conduced between 27 March and 2 April 2021.
