Boris Johnson is said to be considering rebranding the Team GB Olympic squad as Team UK.

The Sunday Times has reported that "some within government" feel that the current branding "unfairly excludes Northern Ireland".

The UK Government's Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden, and the Northern Ireland secretary Brandon Lewis, are understood to have been "consulted about the proposal".

A senior Whitehall source told the Sunday Times that “Team UK would be far more inclusive than Team GB and would better reflect our commitment to the Union, which includes Northern Ireland.”
