A yellow weather warning for strong winds has been issued by the Met Office for 17 of the country's 22 councils.
The weather warning will come into effect from noon on Monday (3 May) and lasts until 09:00 BST on Tuesday (4 May).
The Met Office said that some coastal routes, sea fronts, and coastal communities will be likely affected by spray and/or large waves.
It also warns of travel disruption, with some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport likely.
Some bus and train services could also be affected, with some journeys taking longer than usual.
There is also a risk the gales could cause damage to outdoor, temporary structures, with the possibility that some tree branches might also be felled too.
