
The country's national poet, Ifor ap Glyn, has written a specially written poem— Intermezzo— to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Welsh National Opera.
A recording of the poem featuring Sir Bryn Terfel and Rebecca Evans, as well as sporting icons Sir Gareth Edwards and Baroness Grey-Thompson, has been commissioned for the occasion.
The poem recounts the company's beginnings in Caerdydd in 1946.
The company was founded by Merthyr Tudful-born musician Idloes Owen. and its inaugural meeting occurred in a chapel on Heol y Crwys, Caerdydd.
