Plaid Cymru's manifesto for the upcoming Senedd election has committed to creating a thousand new Welsh-language spaces by the end of the next Senedd term.

The concept of Welsh-language spaces originates in Cymdeithas yr Iaith's 'Mwy Na Miliwn' vision for a Welsh-language citizenship for all.

These Welsh-language spaces would incentivise the use of the language in different settings and activities.

Plaid Cymru said they would create a thousand new Welsh-medium workplaces, and would make Welsh the working language in three Welsh Government departments.

In their 'Mwy Na Miliwn' document, which outlines their vision for a Welsh-language citizenship, Cymdeithas points out the "qualitative difference" that Welsh-language spaces make to normalising the language in wider society.
