Plaid Cymru has recorded its highest support this century in a Westminster poll.
A new opinion poll conducted by YouGov on behalf of ITV-Cymru Wales and Cardiff University shows Plaid Cymru polling at 18%— which would be the party's highest polling for a Westminster election this century.
In January 2021, a previous YouGov poll recorded 17% support for Plaid Cymru, which Cardiff University professor Roger Awan-Scully described at the time as “the highest they have ever recorded for Westminster in any Welsh poll this century of which I am aware.”
Three consecutive YouGov Westminster polls have shown sustained support for the party at around 17-18%.
Whether this trend persists in the run-up to the next General Election remains to be seen, but the recent data appear to indicate that the differential in Plaid Cymru support between Senedd and Westminster voting intention has somewhat narrowed.
