More than 500,000 people are waiting for treatment on NHS waiting lists in Cymru after record backlogs caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The figures, published by Stats Wales, show 549,353 awaiting treatment or surgery— a 19% increase in a year.
This is equivalent to 17% of the population.
Dealing with these record backlogs is likely to be among the biggest challenges facing the next Welsh Government.
In March, Health Minister Vaughan Gething said that it could take as long as five years to clear the backlog. This is as long as an entire Senedd term.
