Hundreds gather for Scottish independence rally in Glasgow

George Square, Glasgow.

Hundreds gathered in George Square, Glasgow on Saturday (1 May) to take part in a socially distanced 'static rally' to show their support for Scottish independence.

The rally took place between 1pm and 3pm in George Square as part of Now Scotland's 'National Day of Action' for Scottish independence.

The rally was held by All Under One Banner; the grassroots campaign for Scottish independence.

The rally was the fourth of its kind organised by AUOB since March 2020.

Those who attended the event were required to register beforehand to ensure that the rally was compliant with Covid restrictions.

Ahead of the rally, AUOB said: "The success of our events is due to careful planning in order that our demos take place safely.

"Please note this is not a mass gathering, nor a social gathering- this is outdoor activity. Participants are encouraged to wear face coverings, adhere to distancing & keep good hand & respiratory hygiene. AUOB will have face coverings, antibacterial hand gel & gloves available."
