Gyms, leisure centres, and fitness facilities across the country will be allowed to reopen from Monday (3 May).

Swimming pools and community centres can also reopen with the latest easing of restrictions.

Indoor activities can also recommence for up to 15 adults, including activities such as swimming lessons, yoga classes, boxing, cross fit, and so on.

The decision to reopen gyms and leisure centres has been a contentious issue over the past few months, with many arguing for the importance of exercise for people's mental and physical health.

From Monday (3 May), two households can also meet and have contact indoors.

Organised children’s indoor activities can also recommence, such as sporting, cultural and wider recreational groups and clubs.

However, children’s birthday parties, or wider gatherings of families and friends in private homes, are still not allowed.
