First Minister condemns racist abuse directed at England footballers

The First Minister Mark Drakeford has condemned the racist abuse directed at England footballers following the team's defeat to England in the final of the 2020 European Championship.


Italy beat England by three goals to two on penalties.


England players Bukayo Saka, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho were all subject to racist abuse after for failing to score in the shootout.


The First Minister described the racist abuse as "absolutely unacceptable" adding "we unreservedly condemn it."


The First Minister said: "The racist abuse following last night's #Euro2020 final is absolutely unacceptable, we unreservedly condemn it. We stand with England's players against all forms of discrimination - there must be zero tolerance for it."
