
The number of fatal farming accidents has more than doubled in Cymru in the past year, according to official figures.
A report by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) shows that there were seven deaths in 2020-21, compared with three in 2019-20.
Th report shows that agriculture has the worst rate of fatal injuries of all the major industrial sectors in the UK— around 20 times higher than the average five-year annual rate across all industries.
While the number of people killed fluctuates each year, the five most common causes of fatal injuries over the last five years across the UK remain— being struck by moving vehicles, killed by an animal, struck by an object, falling from height and contact with moving machinery.
