The Welsh Election Study, carried out by Cardiff University's Wales Governance Centre, has revealed that the Welsh Conservatives' vote share in the 2021 Senedd election was higher in constituencies where a higher percentage of the population was born in England.

The Welsh Conservatives performed relatively strongly in constituencies such as Sir Drefaldwyn, Brycheiniog a Sir Faesyfed, Dyffryn Clwyd, and Gorllewin Clwyd— all areas with a high percentage of English-born residents.

The Welsh Conservatives also received a lower percentage of the vote in constituencies where a higher percentage of the population was born in Cymru.

Conversely, Welsh Labour performed relatively poorly in areas with a high percentage of English-born residents, but performed strongly in areas where a higher share of the population was born in Cymru.
