
Deaths linked to alcohol rose to their highest level for twenty years, according to newly released figures.
Between 2019 and 2020, alcohol-related deaths rose 19% to a two-decade high.
The data reveal that men in poorer parts of the country are three times more likely to die from alcohol-related conditions than men in more affluent areas.
The country registered 438 alcohol-related deaths in 2020.
Most of these deaths result from liver disease.
