Plaid Cymru leader Adam Price has called on the UK's Prime Minister Boris Johnson to resign following allegations that a Christmas party was held at Downing Street in December of last year amid lockdown restrictions.

In a message posted on social media Price said that the it is "time to stop the party" and that "the Prime Minister must go".

He said: "While we longed, they laughed. While we mourned, they mocked. While we stuck to the guidance, they stuck two fingers up. It really is one rule for them and another for everyone else. It’s time to stop the party. The Prime Minister must go".

London at the time was in Tier 3 and the law banned gatherings of two or more people indoors unless it was "reasonably necessary" for work.

There was also a prohibition on organising indoor gatherings of more than 30 people.
